Weather and getting around
- Rain: taxis get booked up quickly in the rain, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. Book ahead rather than waiting at a rank.
- Fog: fog is the main cause of flight delays and diversions at Jersey Airport, and it can come at any time of year. Check your flight before your taxi leaves. See airport taxis.
- Wind: gales in autumn and winter can cancel ferry sailings. Check with the ferry company before going to the harbour.
- Sun: on hot days the car parks at the bays fill early. A taxi drops you at the beach without parking; book the trip back, as there are no ranks at the bays. See places to go.

Jersey usually records more sunshine than anywhere else in the British Isles: 2,128 hours in 2024. The sea is coolest in February and March, at about 8°C, and warmest in late August and September, at about 17 to 18°C.
