Taxi or bus?
LibertyBus runs the island's buses. One fare covers any trip, so the bus is cheaper for one or two people. A taxi is quicker door to door and the better choice late at night, with luggage, or in a group.
Bus fares (from 1 March 2026)
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Single, contactless or app | £2.75 |
| Single, cash | £3.00 |
| Child (15 and under), contactless | £1.40 |
| 1-day Discover Jersey pass | £10.50, family £24 |
| 3-day pass | £27.50, family £52 |
| 7-day pass | £39, family £77 |
Under 5s travel free with a paying adult. Buses are low-floor with a wheelchair space. They run every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Times and the app: libertybus.je.
When a taxi makes more sense
- After the last bus. The last airport bus leaves St Helier at about 11.15pm. Check the last bus on country routes before you go out.
- Three or four people. Four bus fares from the airport cost £11; a taxi to town costs about £18 to £21 in the day, door to door.
- Luggage. Bus luggage space is small, and buses go to Liberation Station, not to your hotel door.
- Remote bays. Several beaches and walks on the north and west coasts have no bus. See places to go.
